The Grace of Our Being

A new play written by a Japanese playwright for our project aiming to create works that are contemporary, international and critical. With pointed depictions of contemporary people, Kana Yamada delves into a problem facing people in recent years: the choice to live or die. What is happening in Japan today? Why do we so often hear whispers of "life is so hard"? Is it permissible to choose death over life? Centred on a dialogue between a mother facing death and a daughter carrying a new life, this work depicts a contemporary Japan in which life and death, beginnings and endings, and forgiveness and choice intersect.
