Mother

We will present Štěpán Pácl's production of Karel Čapek's masterpiece The Mother, premiered at the Czech Republic's National Theatre Brno in April 2022 and still regularly performed, in collaboration with National Theatre Brno.
Famous Czech author and playwright Karel Čapek (1890-1938) wrote anti-war plays as a form of resistance, against not only the Spanish Civil War but also the rising fascist tendencies across all of Europe. The power of this astonishing work lies in its spirit of resistance, portrayed through mother and men seeking change in the world, a timeless narrative that continues to resonate today.
