Conductor change : Mozart 's "Don Giovanni" (17th to 26th May 2019)
Due to personal reasons, Francesco LANZILLOTTA has withdrawn from conducting in "Don Giovanni" from the 17th to the 26th May 2019.
Karsten JANUSCHKE will conduct all performances.
The conductor Karsten Januschke started his career at Oper Frankfurt as a soloists' coach in 2008 before being made a Kapellmeister and building up a broad and varied repertoire. He returned to the company as a guest recently for the Dido and Aeneas / Bluebeard's Castle double bill, Arnulf Herrmann's Der Mieter / The Tenant, which was comissioned by Oper Frankfurt and the first performances in Germany of Olga Neuwirth's Lost Highway.
Other recent engagements have included Ullmann's Der zerbrochene Krug / The Broken Jugand Křenek's Der Diktator at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and Die Zirkusprinzessin / Circus Princess at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich and the Volksoper in Vienna.
Future plans include a return to the Landestheater in Bregenz for Fidelio.
Whilst still a student Karsten Januschke worked at the Vienna State Opera, Theater an der Wien and Bayreuth Festival, assisting conductors including Christian Thielemann and Kirill Petrenko.
He will make his debut appearance at the New National Theatre, Tokyo.
