New National Theatre Tokyo to host Third World Opera Forum in 2028
The World Opera Forum, an international conference uniting opera houses and organizations from around the globe, is set to hold its third meeting at the New National Theatre Tokyo in 2028.
The inaugural Forum hosted by Teatro Real took place in Madrid in 2018, followed by the second in Los Angeles hosted by Opera America in 2024. During the closing ceremony of the World Opera Forum in Los Angeles, our president, Masami Zeniya, announced that Tokyo will host the event in 2028. This prestigious event provides a vital platform for global opera leaders to discuss the future of opera while showcasing the host city's diverse cultural programmes.
The New National Theatre Tokyo will be honoured to host the third World Opera Forum in partnership with Opera Europa, Opera America, and Ópera Latinoamérica. Hosting this event in Tokyo underscores the universal appeal of opera and offers a unique opportunity to experience Japanese arts and culture.
We eagerly anticipate welcoming opera leaders and enthusiasts from around the world to Tokyo for this significant event in 2028.
Details of the schedule will be announced at a later date.
