Concerning COVID-19 infection in a person involved in the "New Year Ballet" and the cancellation of all performances
New National Theatre, Tokyo (NNTT) endeavors to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in line with our Guidelines for Prevention of COVID-19 Infection.
As part of this effort, we regularly perform COVID-19 testing on people involved in our performances and a test conducted on 4th January revealed that a person involved in New Year Ballet (9th-11th January) is infected with the virus. The infected person is not yet showing symptoms. All people involved in the New Year Ballet are currently staying at their homes their homes and we plan to test them again in the next couple of days.
In light of this development, we are unable to prepare for the performance and have decided to cancel all performances. We sincerely apologize for the concern this matter will cause our patrons and all others involved. Please refer to this page regarding the process for ticket refunds.
NNTT has confirmed that the abovementioned infected person has not made contact with other performing arts groups using our facility or members in other stage performances, therefore this matter will not impact other scheduled performances.
We, NNTT will continue to collaborate with public health centres and other authorities in the interests of giving the utmost priority to the safety and security of our patrons, as well as that of our staff and cast members, as we endeavor to prevent the spread of infection.
