Reappointment of the Chairman, and Artistic Directors from 2026/2027 Season
As of 12th of March, the Board of Directors of the New National Theatre Foundation has reappointed Tokura Masakazu as the Chairman, reappointed Ono Kazushi as the Artistic Director of Opera and newly-appointed Kamimura Satoshi as the Artistic Consultant of Drama.

Next Artistic Director of Drama: KAMIMURA Satoshi
Born in Tokyo in 1979. Kamimura Satoshi joined the Bungakuza Acting Institute in 2001 and he left the company in 2018, and now works as a freelancer.
In 2009, he was a recipient of the Agency for Cultural Affairs' Program of Overseas Study for Upcoming Artists and studied abroad in England and Germany for a year.
He has received the 22th Yomiuri Theater Award Grand Prize for Best Director and the17th Mainichi Art Award Senda Koreya Prize in 2015, the 56th Kinokuniya Theater Award in 2021 and the 29th Yomiuri Theater Award Grand Prize for Best Director in 2022.
Recent major productions include Natten är dagens mor, My Boy Jack, Vildanden, The Glass Menagerie, Oslo, Mrs Klein, Le Sang des promesses, Incendies, Littoral and Forêts.
At the New National Theatre Tokyo, he has directed Angels in America, Kirare no Senta, Oresteia, The Fortress and Les Séquestrés d'Altona and will direct Dekalog from April to July in 2024 and The White Guard in December 2024.
