Discover the Magic Behind the Scenes!
We are pleased to announce that backstage tours for the opera Die Zauberflöte and the ballets The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker and the Mouse King will be conducted in English. Join our exclusive tour and get a glimpse of the hidden world behind the curtain. Discover how the sets are constructed and see the props up close in the afterglow of the performance.
Please note that only ticket holders for the performance on the day of the event are eligible to join the tour.

IWASAKI Mark Yudai
Actor, Interpreter/Translator, Acting Coach, English Coach
Studied Shakespeare as an English Literature major at the University of Tokyo. Received acting, music, and Japanese traditional arts training at Theatre Club "ZA" Actors Studio. Member of Theatre Company KAKUSHINHAN since 2014, and has performed in over 30 Shakespeare productions in the past decade. Teaches acting at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music since 2020. Recent performances include "FORTUNE" (directed by Sean Holmes), "FAKESPEARE" (directed by Hideki Noda), "Sin Titus" (directed by Ryunosuke Kimura), "KING LEAR" (directed by Sean Holmes). - Application
Required / Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. (Capacity: 20 people)
- Applications will be accepted until before the show starts.
- If you come in high-heeled shoes, you may be asked to change into the sneakers provided.
- The tour will last approximately 60-90 minutes.

IYEDA June
Iyeda June is a stage director, writer and acting teacher. She served as assistant director to such world-renowned directors as Willy Decker, Richard Jones and Karoline Gruber; here at the New National Theatre Tokyo she assisted in opera productions including Andrea Chenier, Der fliegende Holländer, and Nabucco. June spent time at the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme, Royal Opera House to study coaching techniques. As Associate Professor at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music she has taught acting to over 1,000 opera and musical theater students. Her directing credits include Euridice (winner of the Yoshio Sagawa Music Award), new year's eve concerts at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center, and Il mondo della luna in Eisenstadt, Austria. Her recent writing credits include a reading concert featuring the life and works of Renaissance composer Carlo Gesualdo at Oji Hall in Ginza.
