Hatsudai Art Loft - Exhibition: A Celebration for the Creators
We are delighted to announce that Hatsudai Art Loft's new exhibition "A Celebration for the Creators" is on display in our open space from November 2024 to late February 2025.
"Hatsudai Art Loft" is a space where you can enjoy artwork relating to theatre. The exhibition explores the extraordinary worlds that have been created by the performing arts, through costumes.
This edition of A Celebration for the Creators is themed around a tribute to stage costumes as "artworks" crafted by costume designers. Each costume, brought to life anew, creates a unique and imaginative world of its own. The process of making these costumes involves the hands of designers and countless artisans in workshops. It feels as though the energy of all these people is conveyed to us once more, transcending time and space.
In this exhibition, visitors can view a variety of imaginative costumes from the operas Don Giovanni (premiered in 2000), Carmen (2002), I Pagliacci (2004), Der fliegende Holländer (2007), and Parsifal (2014); the Opera for Children productions The Adventure of "Siegfried" (2004) and Parsifal and the Magic Holy Grail (2011); as well as the ballet The Sleeping Beauty (1997) and the drama INTO THE WOODS (2004).. These costumes are a testament to the creators' boundless creativity.
Additionally, the space is adorned with motifs of flowers and vines crafted from glossy lamé fabric, adding a touch of splendour. Over 6,000 petals and leaf elements have been meticulously embroidered onto lamé fabric, each carefully cut and sewn together by hand. These embellishments enhance the wintry atmosphere, glimmering in the light to create an artistic space that embodies the collective vision of the creators.
On the second floor, visitors can enjoy photo spots featuring the "Wishing Tree" woodwork installation and a ballerina dressed in an original tutu, while on the first floor, benches in the "Madonna's Garden," surrounded by flowers and vines, invite guests to capture memories.
In addition to the actual costumes and installations, more than 200 photos of the exhibition pieces are displayed on panels. We invite you to enjoy this unique world as seen through the lens of the camera.
